Tuesday

Wow, today's classes were awesome! The room felt so good compared to last week! This evening's class was a really good one for me. I didn't feel like I had too much energy but it ended up being a really calm class for me; like I wasn't stressing about doing everything perfect, etc. And when I was doing Hands to feet pose I went to lift my hips up & stretch my body down and it felt like my hips completely shifted. It was really weird and a loud pop... it scared me but I felt a little more free afterwards in my lower body. So that was interesting.  I haven't  needed to drink nearly as much water as when the room was stifling hot. I was drinking about 1 & 1/2 liters but the past 2 days I have drank about 1/2 a liter each class...so that's good.

We had a new teacher this afternoon, can't think of his name at the moment, but he's a senior teacher and he will be with us through the end of training. I really enjoyed his class, he made it really fun and actually had 2 girls (one woman I should say, she's 62!) get up and teach a posture, it was pretty cool. So I'm pretty excited about having him teach more. Bikram left this morning for 2 whole weeks to travel to about 15 different cities for seminars & interviews so this teacher we had tonight will be teaching a lot of classes while he's gone. So on one hand we will get a break from his oh so lovely lectures :) but on the other we will be doing posture clinic a lot more. We have it tonight which means we will be doing Tree & Toe Stand in addition to Standing Separate Leg Head to Knee that we just did this afternoon. Once again let me tell you how glad I am to have learned the dialogue before coming here. Now that we are doing 2 postures a day people are learning them literally 1-2 hours before they have to get up and say it. I can only imagine how stressful that must be.

So Bikram lectured last night, only until midnight amazingly! It was a really good lecture. He told us that no other teacher training will ever know or understand what we went through the past 4 weeks of our lives with the yoga room. He said we are much stronger for it (not than other teachers but just us as individuals).  So that made us all feel good having him acknowledge what we went through....and survived to tell about, lol. Compared to what classes were like before,  classes now seem much easier. But don't get me wrong they are still pretty hard.

Well I'm going to go practice the next 2 postures before posture clinic. Talk to y'all soon.
I only had time to get one pic downloaded today. It takes forever!

Monday

Today was a pretty good day. The air in both classes was actually bearable, it seemed much easier to breath. I didn't do anything in posture clinic today, it took all 3 & 1/2 hours for everyone to finish Triangle. So on to Standing Separate Head to Knee tomorrow.  Boy, let me tell you how un-fun it is to do yoga with a bad sun burn! I realized after we got out of the sun that I never put sunscreen on my back, so you can imagine after being in the sun for about 4 hours my back side is pretty cooked. So the whole spin around and lie down as fast as you can thing wasn't working too well for me today. Bikram said this evenings class was our best class (that he has taught) so far. It's always good when the Boss is happy, maybe he'll go easy on us in lecture tonight and let us go somewhat early. Not much else to comment on, it was a pretty usual day in the life of a Bikram Yoga trainee. Once again I have pictures to upload but the connection is too slow so maybe next time. Gotta get going to lecture :) Later!

Here comes week 5

Last night Chris, Lindsay & I went out to eat at Hard Rock Cafe. We had a good time & it was fun going there because it felt like we could have been anywhere else other than Acapulco if you know what I mean. We came back to the hotel & watched a few episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on Lindsay's laptop. That's the first TV i've seen in 1 month! Crazy. So it was a good laugh.

Today was a very relaxing day. We got up around 8, went to brunch at 10 then laid out for about an hour, got an hour massage on the beach, then laid out until 4. We made another quick trip to Wal-Mart for a few small things & then found ourselves at Ben & Jerry's, lol. If you've never tried their Cinnamon Bun ice cream I highly recommend it :-) So now I'm standing on the lobby balcony typing this... I'm going to eat in my room tonight- have some leftovers from last night. I'm going to try to go to bed early although that never works out as planned since my body is used to going to bed around midnight or later.

I guess Bikram is working on having a wall knocked out somewhere in the yoga room to let more oxygen in, I sure hope it works. I think this week will be better than the past 4 since they now know the temp & oxygen in the room is a problem. They are doing everything possible to get it to a more "comfortable" temperature in there. It's hard to believe we're almost half way done with training! Time goes so quickly here- one minute we're complaining about usual Monday things & next thing we know it's Friday. It's crazy. Right now I'm feeling a bit better than I have the past few days so I hope I continue in this direction.

Us @ Hard Rock.

Update on the end of the week

Thursday night Bikram kept us until 1:30 watching a documentary. No sleeping that time- staff was making sure everyone was awake for all 4 & 1/2 hours of it. So as you can imaging Friday was somewhat difficult. This week was the hardest so far for me. I've just felt like I have absolutely no energy in body, not to mention the fact that my entire body is stiff; that helps to make classes extra fun. Thursday's & Friday's classes went ok, but like I said I feel drained so I did the best I could given that. This mornings class was the same, thankfully it was a quick 90 minutes and I was at the back & the doors were open (meaning there was actually some air there). Oh & Bikram gave us last night off! For class Friday evening he said if no one sat down or left the room he would give us the night off- and of course no one sat or left. Lindsay & I used that time to get our Wal-Mart trip out of the way- which was awesome because now we can totally enjoy our weekend and not have to worry about grocery shopping. I have just been relaxing this afternoon- took a little nap. I didn't even lay out today...that's when you know I'm tired! Actually there is a tropical storm somewhere near here so it was pretty cloudy/rainy this morning but now the sun is out and it's beautiful. We may go out to eat here in a little bit- or we may stay here and go out tomorrow.

So in posture clinic we are on Triangle. I already did it but we'll  be finishing it up on Monday. At the rate we're going it looks like we will be through all the postures by week 7. After that I heard that we start practicing giving corrections and doing a couple postures in a row to better prepare us for teaching which will be good.

I'm hoping I get my energy back for next week. The weekend really is not enough time for your body to recover but I'm really hoping I can otherwise next week will be really really hard. But I'm hoping for the best!

A breath of fresh air.

Yesterday was an interesting day to say the least. There was a little upset in our evening class but it happened to work itself out for the best. It was finally brought to Bikram's attention that something is wrong with the yoga room...there's not enough oxygen in there! So he had the man who built the room come last night to see what the problem was. Turns out there was about 93% humidity in the room- no wonder we were gasping for air. I guess he already fixed it but it's hard to tell for me because the back is the worst and I won't be in the back again until next week. But today's classes did seem pretty good in the front of the room.

We had posture clinic for 3 & 1/2 hours this afternoon, I did Standing Bow. I did pretty good, every time I get up there it gets just a little bit easier. We will have lecture tonight, maybe a movie. Last night Bikram lectured for about 2 hours then we watched a movie until 2 am. I stayed awake for as much of the movie as I could :) And boy did I sleep like a log once my head hit my pillow.

Not much else to mention right now. I haven't been writing as often as usual because I've been using my free time to read. It works great to give my mind a much needed break. And as some of you know I love border collies, so that's what I read about. It makes me miss mine so much! But thanks to Linda I have an adorable little stuffed border collie sitting right next to my bed.

Talk to y'all soon!

Week 3 complete!

If we do not have quiet in our mind, outward comfort will do no more for us than a golden slipper on a gouty foot.  - John Bunyan

Week 3 went by so quickly, we are 1/3 of the way done! Before we know it we'll be half way done. Only another week and a half! My weekend was ok but not as fun as last weekend. After class yesterday morning Lindsay & I laid out then got a massage on the beach then had CPR class at 2 until 5. I really didn't want to take CPR on my only day & a half off but I'm glad I got it out of the way. Lindsay & I ate dinner at the Veranda & totally pigged out on dessert! Lol, it was awesome. I had my extra class this morning & it was a really good class. Had a new teacher which was nice for a change in pace and the room was way cooler than normal. It actually felt like a normal class, it was great. After class I ate lunch with some new friends then Lindsay & I went to Mega (like a giant Wal-Mart). Mega is part of a mall type deal so we checked out some of the stores there and managed to find some things to buy :) Having something new here, even just a t-shirt or something can make all the difference in the world! So we got our shopping out of the way then came back to the room and have been studying & chillin ever since. Lindsay is getting sick, as are many other people. It's so hard to not get sick since we are in such close proximity all the time. I went ahead and ate a few cloves of garlic just in case!
So here comes week 4... Hope it's a good one! In posture clinic we are finishing up Eagle Pose & will probably get to the next 3 this week. I'm ready for all of them and for out last Anatomy test tomorrow.

I'm going to bed here in a minute, I'm exhausted! Talk to y'all soon! Miss everyone!

Picture

These pics are from a few days ago but I haven't been able to upload them because the internet has been real slow. See how steamy the pics are? Just a glimpse of how hot it is in there!

Lindsay & I before class.

Ok nevermind,  I can only get this one uploaded right now. More pics coming soon.
